Hot August Nights!

Summer is coming to a close, and I'll tell ya, I am not ready for it!  We have just a few more short weeks before the kids are back in school so we put together a local bucket list of places to visit.  It's Texas, so of course, you're going to need to get wet!

The Pearl Splash Pad

This is a family favorite!  The kids can play in the water... the adults can enjoy a beverage!  It's free too! Open 9am to 10pm.
See other attractions and info HERE

Fischer Park Sprayground

Open daily from 9am to 9pm.  In addition to their large splash pad, there are fishing ponds, kayak rentals, butterflies, and more!  Check it HERE

You could also check out Pearsal ParkYanaguana Gardens Splash Pad at Hemisphere Park, and Bulverde Community Park for their splash pads!

Ok now to the good stuff!

Medina Lake

If you know me, you know the lake is not only my home but my center.  It's my balance, my happy place, and everything in between.  So what's there to do around here?  Well, unfortunately we are in desperate need of some rain so most of the public accesses are closed.  Except one!  If you want to get in the water at Medina Lake right now, put in a boat, or just enjoy a lakeside meal, Red's Cove Cafe & Marina is the place to do it!

It really is a sad state that our lake is in right now.  This photo was taken from my back porch.  See that pier right there?  That's where the water should be.  We are currently at 10.4% full and dropping every day. If y'all wouldn't mind doing a rain dance that would help immensely!  Also, you can visit Save Medina Lake for info on how you can help with preservation!

Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake is currently a favorite right now!  You can swim, camp, launch a boat, or eat by the water!

Want to just swim?  Visit Comal Park or Canyon park!  Daily rates will get you in but get there early, the parks fill up quick!

There are a ton of places to camp on the lake, but Cranes Mill Park and Potters Creek Park are a couple of my favorites!  Cranes Mill has the best sunrise and sunsets! Make sure you make a reservation!

Canyon Lake Features several public boat ramps (even free launch areas).  Always check the status before you go.  This is a map with info about all of the ramps.

Don't forget to check out the local favorite Baja Icehouse & Grill from the shore or by water!  Great place to eat and overlook the marina.

Maybe lakes and splash pads aren't your thing?

You can always visit The JW Marriot San Antonio Hill Country Resort.  Relax in the pool, float on the lazy river, enjoy the water slides, or even surf on their surf machine!

Or maybe you'd like a daycation at La Cantera Resort and Spa?  You can get a
daypass for 50$ for adults, 25$ for children.  Don't have kids?  No problem, they have an adult only pool with beverage service and a bar!

Don't forget the Amusement Parks!

Of course- this is San Antonio.  How could I not mention the 3 huge theme/water parks?

SeaWorld offers a large array of water areas for smaller children, in addition to all of the shows where the animals can get you wet too!  At the end of the night, don't
miss the ski show with fireworks either!  Maybe you'll catch my husband at work! Visit their full-size waterpark Aquatica next door for water slides, tide pools, and amazing water features!

Check out their seasonal and annual passes at Sea World HERE

Or, save a little money and just visit Aquatica where you can get a one-day pass for $35.99 HERE

Are you military?  Thank you for your service!  Claim free tickets once a year for you and 3 dependents HERE

Six Flags with White Water Bay offer similar experiences with their own little twist. Shows, rides, food and fun!

Visit HERE for low-price monthly payment options or daily tickets.

Schlitterbahn is another great option if you're in the New Braunfels area.  They have a resort if you'd like a little staycation, crazy rides right by the river, lazy floats, and family-friendly splash areas.  Check out their season passes and single-day passes HERE.

All in all, summer in San Antonio is poppin!  Plenty of ways to stay cool and enjoy this last bit of summer vacation!  Stay cool out there!
